Well, Mr. Jami is awake! Yesterday was a huge breakthrough and they finally got his lungs to loosen up. One critical issue when you have respiratory failure is the lack of oxygen to the brain and other organs. They have brought in a physical therapist and run through a series of tests and he seems just fine. Maybe a bit anxious to get the ventilator out but that is to be expected. They will be taking out the ventilator over the next few hours and this will be very critical. Anyone who knows asthma knows that just about anything can set it off. Cough, laugh, too cold, too hot.. So, it will be very important to keep him comfortable to make sure they don’t have to put that tube back down his throat. If all goes well he will be one more night here in critical care and then hopefully moved to a recovery room tomorrow and any one and everyone is welcome to come and say HI!!! His immune system is pretty shot after this so of course if you have something coming on.. hold off and send a card
I will do my best to update again later today and let you all know how things go.. Thanks for the prayers, love, encouragement, and support.
